Some other things I have learned while on bedrest:
- No matter what you eat, some of it ends up either on your shirt or the bed (no matter how careful you are).
- The paper in the contraction monitor only lasts about 4 hours and has a very annoying beep when it runs out (especially at 3am). I have learned to change it myself so I don't have to wait for the nurse to come in.
- Pregnancy does some really strange things to your body. I am so itchy that I can't stand it - belly, legs, arms, bottoms of feet, you name it, I am scratching it. Nothing seems to help but luckily all of my blood work has come back ok that the itching is just from stretching and being pregnant and nothing else.
- Hospital food is disgusting but if you make friends with the dietary staff, they will have them make you anything you want - still not good but better than boiled chicken.
- When the doctors believe delivery is imminent, they put an IV port in your arm - I have had one in since Wednesday and they tell me it's staying in until delivery - this hurts and is very annoying and I have yet to find a nurse that will let me take it out.
- Nothing beats the support of family and friends. I can always count on my phone ringing just when I'm starting to feel sorry for myself.
- MOST IMPORTANTLY - my husband is the most amazing man. He has been very patient during my breakdowns, brings me anything I ask for, puts lotion on my legs (which I can no longer reach), has done a tremendous job getting the house and car ready for the babies, and visits me everyday for several hours (really helps me get through the day.) I can't thank him enough for all that he is doing for me and our children!
Here is my 30 week picture:

Kevin's job has been E.a.s.y, So far. Wait until these baby's get home. Then his fun will begin. He will need to hire a personal assistant to get thru each day.
Hi Patty & Kevin,
Thanks for the updates, it's great to know what's going on with you! Love seeing the belly pics, amazing the difference from the last ones two weeks ago! Hang in there, bet it's not too much longer.
Love,
Susan and Eddie
Kevin: Don't pay attention to d.o.d.--somehow, I think you will have plenty of help (AND FUN) when everybody gets home. Don't worry--d.o.d.survived /baby/toddler/pre-teen/teenage/young-adulthood"; you will too!
Patty: You look GREAT! Thanks for the informative hospital/bed-rest info.
A, B, & C: You guys stay put for a little while longer! You're not missing much--just cold, chilly weather. Just listen to Mommy & Daddy and DON'T MOVE!
Love,
Nanny D
Patty, you are doing so awesome! Rob and I were getting a kick out of what you learned. You sound so positive and although you probably don't feel that way all the time, the reward will be great. I promise. I wish I could put a trailer up to your house and just move you down here.
Keep up the good work.
Love,
Patty and Rob Ford
Hang in there Patty!! You're amazing! I don't know how you typed all that w/that darn IV port in your arm!??! You're like Wonder WOman!!!! You and Kevin will be awesome parents! So happy for you both!
Hello Patty, You look marvelous for 30 weeks and 3 babies. You'll be one of those girls who wears her skinny jeans home and asks for a belt! Kevin should look so good. Just think of Mother's Day and the TRIPLE gifts you'll get! Hang in there and enjoy the rest. Cousin Molly.
Patty,
My first visit to a blog. You look beautiful and sound so wonderful. The babies pics are amazing. Your mom has been keeping me posted. We're all abuzz here waiting for your three little angels. Love to Kevin. You are all in our prayers.
