One week old and doing great!

The Becklets are a week old today and are doing great! We had a busy week at the hospital. I finally came home on Saturday. My blood pressure continued to be high so they decided to keep me a few extra days and keep an eye on it. It was really hard to leave the babies at the hospital but I know they are in the right place for now. They made great progress this week....

Daniel now weighs 4lb 10.6oz and grew to 18" long. He is off of the lights for the jaundice and his IV was removed today!! We absolutely love his thick dark hair which seems to grow everyday and he loves snuggling with both Mommy and Daddy during kangaroo care. He looks right into your eyes when you talk or sing to him - too cute!!

Anna now weighs 3lb 1oz and grew to 16" long. She was taken off the lights for a day but had to go back under this morning because her bili levels came back a little high. Since she is the smallest she is getting most of her feedings from Mommy until she catches up a little bit. She should be off of her IV within the next day or two. She is the fighter of the bunch. She is the most active during kangaroo care and loves running her fingers thru Daddy's chest hair.

Kathryn now weighs 3lb 10.1oz and grew to 17" long. She is off of the lights as well and her IV was removed today too! The next step is for them to begin to try to maintain their own body temperatures and the nurses think she will be ready to start this in the next day or two. She is still the drama queen of the bunch and is always stretched out in weird positions in her isolette. She absolutely loves kangaroo care with Daddy and starts out very alert, listening to him tell her stories and gets so comfy that she falls into a very peaceful sleep.

Today, we were able to do the kangaroo care with Kathryn and Daniel in the same room which was nice. Once Anna is off of the IV and the lights we can spend time with all 3 of them in the same room - can't wait for them to be back together again!

Hello!

They're so beautiful! I printed out some of the earlier pictures to show friends and everyone remarks how beautiful they are also! I can only imagine how blessed you both feel! But I can assure you how blessed Aunt Ellie and Nana feel! We love you!

Hi Patty and Kevin,
I am fascinated by every moment of this. I love the terminology that we're all learning "Kangaroo Care" and other terms. God has blessed you so much it's overwhelming.

Take Care,
Patty Ford

Hi Patty and Kevin

Congratulations, can't believe you made it all the way to the end. Of course what choice did you have. The babies are beautiful. Enjoy your time with them. Will include you and the babies in our prayers. Keep in mind that is does get easier as they get older. Can't imagine what 3 at the same time is like. Good luck

Patty, the babies look great and the boys are very excited about their new cousins. I however, could have done without the "Anna running her fingers through Daddy's chest hair" comment. Ewww!

Nanny D was on the Blog at 4:09 am because it was St. Patty's day. She was finishing her second liter of Guinness before heading off to work.
