Question of the day...Sleep or update the blog??

I have no excuse for not updating this sooner, except for the fact that we are exhausted. Daniel is pretty much sleeping thru the night, but he can't stay still in his crib. We are often awakened by him crying because he has gotten himself stuck somewhere far away from where he started the night. He will go right back to sleep once he is put back into place. The girls, however, are still struggling with getting the hang of this thing we call sleep. They seem to think that 3:30am is a good time to get some alone time with Mommy or Daddy. Last night, Kathryn was up twice - once for about 30 minutes and the other time was an hour. I finally had to bring her downstairs and put her in the swing to get her to fall back asleep. Also, Anna decided she wanted to play with Daddy from about 4am until just after 6am. They're lucky they're so cute - makes it really hard to get mad at them!

Daniel has started to try to army crawl. He picks his butt up in the air and then pushes his body forward. He is working so hard at it. I have been trying to catch it on video, but of course, as soon as the camera comes out, he stops. Anna and Kathryn are really close to sitting on their own. Today, Kathryn sat for a good 30 seconds before slowly tipping over.

We did not get approved for the Synagis shots for RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus). RSV causes a respiratory tract infection. Children born prematurely are at great risk for the disease. For most children, the virus causes cold like symptoms, but for preemies, the disease can result in hospitalization, or even death. This is scary stuff! The Synagis shots do not prevent children from getting the disease, but if they were to get it, the shots would hopefully lessen the severity of their symptoms. So, what does this all mean? We need to be really careful about some things.

• Everyone must wash their hands with warm water and soap before touching the babies.
• If you are sick (cold or fever), we ask that you refrain from coming around the babies.
• We will need to keep the babies away from other children with cold symptoms and crowded places.
• No smoking around the babies.
• Get a flu shot.

I know these may seem severe, and it will be difficult for us to stay away from family and friends, but we waited so long for these babies that we don't want anything to happen to them and we will do everything we have to in order to keep them healthy.
