The week started off great with Daniel taking his first steps on Monday night. It was so great to watch him take those steps and you could tell he was so proud if himself by the look on his face. All of the excitement was over on when Daniel started coughing in the middle of the night. It just didn't sound good and by the morning he was really struggling to breathe. We called the doctor and they got us right in and gave him a breathing treatment in the office which seemed to make things better. They sent us home with a breathing machine to give him breathing treatments every 4-6 hours with instructions to call if things didn't improve. We gave him a treatment around 11:30am and there was no improvement. He was struggling so hard to breathe, it was really hard to watch and listen to him. We headed back to the doctor and when he walked in the room, he was shocked that he could hear Daniel struggling to breathe from down the hall with the door closed. By 2pm we were in the hospital. It was a rough couple of hours trying to get x-rays, draw blood, get an IV in, etc. He was so upset which didn't help his inability to breathe. A little steroid, another breathing treatment and a little sleep in an oxygen tent and he was much better. I spent the night in the hospital with him and it wasn't as bad a night as I thought it was going to be. He was so exhausted from the activities of the day, that he slept really well. He did get up a couple of times, but went back to sleep after a little bit of cuddling. The diagnosis was croup....nasty stuff, but we survived. The girls have bad colds, but we hopefully have avoided croup for them. We have had a few rough nights where Kevin and I have both been up every hour with one or more of the Becklets. And, of course, I now have a cold as well, so this weekend was a really lazy lay around the house kind of weekend.
I wasn't able to get as many pictures as I would have liked this week, but here are a few of the Becklets getting around the house.
"Daniel, it's for you...Poppy wants to know if you got your fishing license yet...."
"Daniel is in my way!"
Kathryn...driving the hoopdee...
Daniel trying to get out of the car...Duke's of Hazard style...
Kathryn showing Anna how to get the car started.
Uh oh....better get that gate up...
On your mark....get set.....go....
Wait a minute...technical difficulty. There seems to be a problem with Anna's vehicle.
"Too bad! Eat my dust, I'm gonna win!"
"Come on Anna, don't quit! I'll pull you across the finish line!"

I'm so sorry your little one was sick! I'm glad he's getting better and I can't believe he's walking!!!!!
What a scary event! I'm so sorry to hear of what everyone went through. Hope everyone is soon back to good health. Wow! Lots of "driving" going on in that house! What fun! Looks like they'll all be walking soon!!!! Take care, everyone!
Love to all,

Thanks, again! I KNOW how busy you & Kevin are; but we sooo appreciate your efforts to keep us updated & the new pictures.
Cousins Max & Calvin LOVE looking at the pics & "reading" the captions...lots of laughs.
Take care of yourselves.
Glad to hear that eveyone is on the mend.
I see some serious "road rage" potential in that last picture.
Thanks for keeping us updated!

Hospitals and growing babies just don't make for a good time. I remember all too well. Mikey was the boy who cried "croup". He spent too much time in the "rain room" when he was little. Hope Daniel is on the mend!
God bless all of you!
